Wild strawberry, woodland strawberry (Fragaria vesca) - а sweet delicacy from the Macedonian mountains

The Wild strawberry, woodland strawberry (Fragaria vesca) is a perennial herbaceous plant from the rose family which can be often found on the Macedonian mountains. It has a horizontal root, low, near the ground, with three-leaf long-stems, broken with hairs. The flowers are small and white. The fruit is a delicious red berry with a beautiful aroma.

Medicinal use of wild strawberry:

For medicinal use, the leaf is used in diseases of the kidneys and urinary tract. It reduces the uric acid, and helps with joint pain, gout, intestinal diseases, diarrhea and colitis, hemorrhoids, inflammation of the mouth and throat.



The wild strawberry is also used against uterine bleeding, stone in kidney and it improves the work of the bladder. Also its a good remedy for improving liver function, arteriosclerosis and high blood pressure, improving the blood flow.
